The first Civic League Scholarship of $100.00 was awarded in 1965. At that time no other scholarships were available to students in any cultural arts field. The Civic League was one of the first organizations to give scholarships in this area.

The following year two scholarships were given, and the amount awarded increased. In 1970 new resolutions allowed the Education Committee to decide on scholarship amounts (minimum $100.00), as our income was dependent on our fundraising results.

In 1971 individual scholarship amounts increased to $500.00 and eligibility expanded to include students living in Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Addison. In 1973 The Civic League expanded our philanthropy to students pursuing all areas of education. 

 

In 2022, The Civic League partnered with other organizations to provide scholarships focused on the performing arts and on trades.

​Each spring, graduating high school seniors and previous scholarship recipients who are continuing in college or secondary education training may apply for scholarships. Civic League members conduct interviews with high school applicants and make selections based on financial need, educational performance, maturity, and goals. 

 

The Civic League Foundation, Inc. has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to students from Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch to help young people achieve their educational goals.
